Coding Day is a whole-day event in the Innovation Lab where children work in small teams on a set challenge and then on something entirely of their own choosing.
The shape of the day
Teams of three are formed across class levels, which is deliberate: older children explain, younger children question, and both learn something they would not have in a single-year group.
The morning challenge
Every team receives the same problem: build something that reacts to what the user does. The solution is entirely open. Some teams build a quiz, others an animation, others a simple game. The constraint is what makes it interesting.
- Teams of three, mixed across class levels.
- One shared morning challenge, with an open solution.
- An afternoon of free project time with mentor support.
- A presentation to families at the end of the day.
The hardest part of Coding Day is not the code. It is agreeing, as a team of eight-year-olds, on what to build.

After the day
Every participant takes home a printed certificate and a short note from the lab team describing what they built, what they found difficult and what they were strongest at. Family members are invited to the final presentations at 1:15 PM.
